INTRODUCTION
ABOUT THE 907/PCI DEVICE DRIVER
The CalComp 907/PCI device driver is used with Microsoft Windows
Versions 3.0 and 3.1. The 907/PCI device driver provides high-quality,
high-speed capability to drive CalComp printers and plotters through
a serial or parallel communications port.
The device driver allows high-speed plotting of complex vector graphics.
It fits seamlessly into the Windows environment, so it can be accessed
through any Windows-based application for direct printing to a CalComp
device.
VECTOR BASED DEVICE DRIVER
This driver (named CALCOMP.DRV) allows you to print or plot files from
within an application that supports Microsoft Windows version 3.0 or 3.1.
You can send files to a CalComp pen plotter, direct thermal plotter,
electrostatic plotter, and a desktop color thermal printer.
You can use the device driver as long as the software application can use
the Windows Control Panel printer drivers.
Note: The printing/plotting of raster data is NOT supported by the driver.
NETWORK CONFIGURATION
The CalComp 907/PCI device driver runs transparently to a network configuration.
No special set-up procedures are needed for installation and configuration.
If you want to connect to a network printer, complete the network
connections dialog boxes as listed in the Microsoft Windows User's Guide
"Connecting to a Network Printer" section.
AutoCAD Configuration
The CalComp 907/PCI device driver operates with AutoDesk AutoCAD Release 11
or Release 12C2 Windows Version. You must specify a Systems printer for the
plotter configuration. This passes control of the printing function to the
Windows Control Panel printer.
Please refer to the AutoDesk AutoCAD Release 11 or Release 12 for Windows
User's Guide for specific setup procedures for both the Windows environment
and plotter selection/setup.
CalComp Device Control Language (CDCL)
The CalComp 907/PCI device driver automatically uses CDCL if the selected
device (from Config window) is CDCL compatible. CDCL is a set of software
instructions that automatically sends control commands to CalComp
printers and plotters. Using CDCL, you can override the printer or
plotter configuration and set-up parameters. The 907/PCI device driver
automatically generates this information in the CDCL format and places
it in the configuration file (named CDCLINFO.INF) in the root directory
on the drive where Windows is installed. In this way, you can enter
configuration and set-up parameters for the 907/PCI device driver, not for
the individual printer or plotter.
-1-
Not all CalComp devices accept CDCL. See the following table for
information about your printer or plotter. For the non-supported
CDCL printers and plotters, you must first enter the set-up parameters for
the 907/PCI device driver. Then configure and set up each printer or plotter
to match the CalComp 907/PCI device driver configuration.
